FAA April Meeting with Watercolor Demo

Events, Meetings

Guest Artist Anna P. Wert

The Franklin Art Association is pleased to welcome visual artist, educator and watercolorist Anna P. Wert. Studying at Parsons School of Design in Paris, she has a degree in Sociology and Education from the University of Richmond and a certificate in Children’s Book Illustration from RISD. She is inspired by her travels around and living in coastal New England; her work focuses mainly on landscapes. Her background is in oils, but she is captivated by the immediacy of watercolors. She teaches painting at several locations in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

Anne is a Signature Member of the New England Watercolor Society and Rhode Island Watercolor Society. Her paintings are in galleries around New England.

In her artist’s statement, she offers that she paints primarily from nature because it is such a calming and centering force for her. Inspired by the poet Mary Oliver she thinks of the outdoors with reverence and awe. Her work seeks to convey this wonder: creating the impression of light movement and stillness around her. She hopes the viewer has a sense of joy and peace when looking at her work, for that is what she feels while creating the painting.

The Franklin Art Association warmly welcomes the public to its meetings at the Franklin Senior Center in Franklin, MA. Meetings include a short business session starting at 6:30 PM followed by the art demonstration.
