Sarah is a primarily self-taught artist, though she has taken workshops and classes since she was ten years old and spent weekends at The Museum of Fine Arts taking classes.  Her first serious experiments with watercolors were with Angelina Wood with whom she took classes for many years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inspired by patterns in nature and movement she likes to capture the essence of a subject more than a literal interpretation.  Her work is more expressive and reactive then realistic. Her style changed dramatically due to an eye disease that caused double vision.  Having had eleven eye operations, she often painted when recuperating, unable to do much else.  She started painting \u201cclose-up\u201d views of plants around her garden, and changed her painting style to adapt to her changing vision.  Some of her best work was done when she couldn\u2019t see well!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previously a resident artist at the Holliston Mill, Sarah now has a home studio in Hopedale Mass, where she paints full time and offers private and semi-private lessons.  She also teaches watercolors at the Broadmoor Wildlife Sanctuary in Natick.  She is a member of the Franklin Art Association, Needham Art Association, and The Wellesley Society of Artists.  Cultural Arts Alliance Hopkinton, Danforth Museum of Art, Attleboro Art Museum, and more.  Sarah has received awards and has exhibited in juried shows with: the Hopedale Cultural Council, Wellesley Society of Artists, Needham Art Association, Danforth Museum, Marblehead Art Association, Wellesley Library, Needham Library, Art Emporium in Needham, Franklin Art Association, Premiere Image Gallery, Southborough Center for the Arts, Hopkinton Cultural Council, Natick Center for the Arts (TCAN), Amazing Things Art Center, Rhode Island Watercolor Society, Grafton Arts Festival, Blackstone Valley Art Association, and the Massachusetts Audubon Society\u2019s Broadmoor Wildlife Sanctuary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
