Watercolor Artist Carlie DeGaetano at October FAA Meeting

The Franklin Art Association will hold its meeting on Wednesday, October 4th, at 6:30  p.m. at the Franklin Senior Center.  

The featured artist is Carlie DeGaetano who will do a watercolor painting demonstration.  Carlie resides in Blackstone and spends most days painting or teaching painting at the Medway Senior Center.  Her medium of choice is watercolor, but she also paints in acrylic and water soluble oils.  She paints in a loose free style with lots of color.   Her work can be seen at www.etsy.com/shop/CarlottasArt.

Sue Sheridan Presenting at the FAA September 6th Meeting

The Franklin Art Association will have their first meeting of the season on Wednesday, September 6th, at 6:30 PM at the Franklin Senior Center, 10 Daniel McCahill Street, Franklin, MA (directions). Programs are free and open to the public.  This month’s program will feature artist Sue Pratt Sheridan, who will demonstrate the use of many different types of mediums with a slide presentation of artwork, including oils, watercolors, pastels, charcoal and mixed media.  The unique qualities of each medium will be discussed, questions answered and encouragement given to explore new ways to create art!  Sue holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from UMass Amherst, and has been a practicing artist for most of her life.

January 4th Meeting: Katie Kindilian

The Franklin Art Association’s January 4th meeting will feature a demonstration by Katie Kindilian.

Katie Kindilien grew up in Norwalk, CT and currently lives in New Haven. She received her undergraduate degree in painting from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia. A year spent studying in Rome became a lifelong inspiration to paint and travel and study art from around the world. She received her Masters in Art Education from Southern Connecticut State University and taught elementary and middle school art in New Haven for 25 years. Along the way Katie has continued painting, traveling, and studying with wonderful artists and teachers such as Julian Merrow-Smith, Stephanie Birdsall and Paul Foxton.

Katie was an Artist in Residence at the Art Association of Nantucket. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and art associations throughout New England, including Manhattanville College and the Essex Art Association.

Harvest Festival

News

The Franklin Art Association’s Harvest Festival Exhibit will be held Saturday October 1st in conjunction with the Downtown Partnership’s Harvest Festival — see the prospectus for full details.  The drop off for this show is Friday September 30th at 5:30 PM at the Rockland Trust Annex, no pre-registration required.  Entrants must have their FAA membership up to date.  If you wish to participate in the show your time contributing to the show’s success is requested – please sign up to volunteer here.

Yes, we’re baaack!  Our first in-person meeting of the season will be Wednesday, October 6th, with a short business meeting starting at 6:45 followed by this month’s presentation by guest artist Deborah Freedman.

We meet at the Franklin Senior Center, 10 Daniel McCahill St., in Franklin, Massachusetts.  The Senior Center a large building located diagonally across from the town common and across from St. Mary’s Church (directions).  Meetings are free and open to the public.
