Activities

Monthly meetings are held in the New Franklin Senior Center, 10 Daniel McCahill Street, located diagonally across from the town common and across from St. Mary's Church. Meetins are held on the first Thursday of every month except June, July and August. Meetings start at 6:30 with a social period followed by a short business meeting and a demonstration / lecture.

Art shows are held in the fall and spring for a period of one day to one month depending upon the venue. Activities associated with these shows include reception, art work judging, silent auction, student exhibition, raffle, and viewers choice judging.

Workshops are held once or twice a year. These one or two events are led by a recognized artists and usually held in the Old Town Hall. Previous workshops have included life painting, oil painting, watercolor and pastel.

Plein Air field trips are scheduled from time to time during the year. These informal outdoor sessions have included landscape painting at the Audubon Stonybrook and Broadmoor reservations and Uxbridge's River Bend Farm.

Student Scholarships are awarded each year to a Franklin High School senior who plans on majoring in art. Student portfolios and recommendations are judged by FAA officers.

Local Exhibitions of FAA members' paintings are arranged through the Association. These exhibitions, ranging in periods from one to three months, are held in the Franklin Municipal Center, regional hotels, banks, coffee shops, libraries and frame galleries.
